My plans to work with Perl objects yesterday went awry – I ended up reading up on PHP instead. I have found an excellent resource at Hudzilla which is just what I need: a guide to PHP written by an ex-Perl coder. The differences are few, but niggling.
I have written a few PHP odds and sods – enough to realise that there's no real learning curve involved; it's just a case of working out which syntax is C, Perl or PHP. I'll probably write my next application in PHP, just for the hell of it; it'll take a lot to drag me away from my beloved Perl.
Update: I am now writing and hacking PHP quite happily – I may even re-write some of my WebSticky material in PHP – it may speed up the development process, but that remains to be seen.
